Volunteers, including the mayor of St Neots, attended a gift wrapping session to support the Tesco Little Boxes Campaign.
Shoppers, community groups and schools have donated gifts and useful items for 280 boxes, which will now be delivered to care homes in the St Neots area over the next two weeks.
Councillor Derek Giles, and mayoress Sandie Giles, joined volunteers at the store, in Barford Road, on November 24 to help wrap the boxes, which will be filled with donations from shoppers.
Tesco community champion, Gaby Catrisano, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of the St Neots public. We, thought we may have bitten off more than we could chew deciding to give to the 200-plus residents in care homes in St Neots a box, but our customers have done themselves proud.”
Cllr Giles, said: It is a privilege to be able to come and help for such a worthwhile cause. Myself, my wife and the mayor bear have had a good time and thank the town for all their donations.”
