An inquest into the death of St Neots man Richard Davies, who was shot by a police firearms officer, has heard how he tied up his three children and threatened them with a knife.
The hearing, which started today (Wednesday), at Peterborough Town Hall, has been told, in summary, by assistant coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Nicholas Moss, that the children managed to escape from the house, in Duck Lane, before the fatal shooting.
The inquest has also heard that several 999 calls were made by the children and also by a neighbour.
The court was told that the officer who fired the fatal shot will be referred to by the cipher I7, during the inquest, which is likely to last for two and half weeks.
The jury has also been told that Mr Davies had been suffering from some mental health problems and had been prescribed anti-depressant medication.
