A new sergeant has joined the policing team at St Neots.
Sergeant Kevin Thorne took up the post last month, transferring from the Cambridge City Safer Neighbourhood Team.
He has eight years’ experience in the rank and has covered both rural and city posts.
It is not the first time in the town, having worked the beat before as part of the safer neighbourhood team between 2008 and 2010.
While new to the position, Sgt Thorne has already attended a presentation by Year 5 at Priory Junior School and has given a talk at a Rotary Club.
He has been looking at problems and concerns such as parking, speeding, antisocial behaviour, car cruising and traveller encampments.
He said: “My impression of St Neots is that it is a thriving township with a diverse population.
“I see my role as one that supports the community as a whole but especially those who are more vulnerable and less able to look after their own interests.”
