Councillor Derek Giles has been re-elected to the position of mayor of St Neots.

This will be the fourth term of office for Cllr Giles, who represents the Eaton Ford ward on St Neots Town Council. He was first mayor in 1996-1997 and went on to take up the role in 1997-1998 and 2016-2017.

Fellow Eaton Ford councillor, Charles Bober, was elected deputy mayor at the annual town meeting on May 25.

Cllr Giles told The Hunts Post: “I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity by my fellow councillors to take on the office of mayor once again.

“It is an absolute honour to be the mayor of the largest town in Cambridgeshire and play a role in promoting, not only the cultural and social aspects of the town, but also the business sector.”

Cllr Giles said he welcomed the appointment of Cllr Bober as his deputy.

“Charles is a former headmaster and brings with him a wealth of experience in finance and business planning.”
