The St Mary’s afternoon WI, which meets in the St Mary’s church rooms and was formed in August 1988, held a quiz and marked the occasion with a birthday cake.
Members celebrated the anniversary at their September meeting and the birthday cake, made by Merle Rendell-Read, was cut by Bettine Culpeck and Janice Pavitt, two of the group’s longest-serving members who joined St Mary’s in the early 1990s.
A quiz on the history of St Neots was held and members were able to look through scrapbooks and photo albums containing information about the group’s activities over the years. These showed ‘Christmas lunch 1989’ and the first committee noted in that book was in 1990 with Joan Pennington as president.
