Nearly 20 students were sent home from St Ivo today for wearing the incorrect uniform.

On the first day of the new school year, 19 students were told to go home and change into something more suitable before returning to school.

David Varey, assistant headteacher, told The Hunts Post: “There were 19 students who were sent home to get changed into the correct uniform. Some were wearing inappropriate trousers like black denim jeans.

“We called parents first and those who lived within five to 10 minutes were asked to go home and change with their parents permission.

“I think some tried to push their luck. We had a staggered start today, so some started at 11am, after their parents had gone to work and they changed into what they wanted to wear and not what their parents bought them over the summer.

“Our uniform is the burgundy jumper, white polo shirt, black trousers and black shoes, as it has been for the past 16 years.”
