A doctors surgery in St Ives is in a bid to raise funds to buy life changing equipment.

The Old Exchange Surgery, in East Street, held a coffee and cake day on September 21 and raised £209.68 towards purchasing an electro cardiogram machine, which measures the heart rhythm.

The machine is expected to cost up to £2,500.

Practice manager, Samantha Jones said: "If we are able to offer this service to our patients, rather than referring them, they will not need to travel and will receive their results quicker."

This is the first of a number of events which have been organised to raise funds.

Buisnesses in and around St Ives have been donating items to an auction which is being held at the Golden Lion, on November 30, at 7pm. Tickets for the event are available from the surgery.
