A St Ives student apologised to his victim via Facebook after punching him in his head several times after an 18th birthday party, Huntingdon magistrates were told.
Adam Guitart, 18, of Pettis Road, attacked Jon Whitworth near the Burgess Hall in St Ives on December 13 last year, after his shoulder was pushed from behind when two groups confronted each other on the way to the town centre.
Elaine Havord, mitigating, said Guitart sent his victim a message on Facebook to apologise later that night.
Yesterday (Tuesday), Guitart, who last August was given a conditional caution for assault, admitted assault. He was fined £100, ordered to pay £100 compensation to Mr Whitworth and pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
