UNCOVERED: A restaurant owner in St Ives revealed some hidden history when he stripped the sign off the front of the building and discovered a shop front believed to date back to the 1940s.
Kushiara, in Bridge Street, is undergoing a three-month refurbishment and last week builders removed the restaurant sign to reveal one that says “Dorothy”.
Owner Rukon Uddin now wants to find out more: “The restaurant was opened in 1982 and I took it over in 1999. I don’t know what the shop sold, maybe dairy products, but I want to find out more,” he said.
The restaurant is due reopen on March 13.
