Two friends from St Ives are travelling from London to Brighton on foot in memory of a brother.
Tanina Schillaci, 27, of Albemarle Road, and Sarah Oldfield, 29, of Barley Close, will march the 100km between Richmond, in London, to the south coast on May 22 to raise money for mental health charity Mind on behalf of Miss Schillaci’s brother Roberto, who died in August aged 24.
They anticipate it will take them about 20 hours to complete.
The duo have raised £450 so far but need to secure a minimum of £950 for their places in the event.
Ms Oldfield said: “Support from the public will not only help people experiencing mental health problems and raise awareness about Mind but will also push us to smash our target and motivate us through the gruelling challenge ahead.”
Ms Schillaci added: “Mind is a charity that is close to both of our hearts personally and we feel that more awareness needs to be raised about this fantastic charity and the work that they do to help support people experiencing mental health issues.”
She also paid tribute to her brother: “He was very fun and loving. A caring and dependable brother to his three sisters and friend to many. He would do anything for anyone and was loved by anyone who met him.”

The pair approached Huntingdon business Borney UK to see if they could support them, and brand and marketing director Carli Beary asked apprentice Harriet Hall to design a logo for them for greater brand awareness.
Borney is also supporting them by holding a fundraising event at the White Hart in Godmanchester in April. The Little Hair Boutique and Tim Schuetz Domestic Plumbing and Heating have also got behind the duo.
