The freedom of St Ives is to be granted to 42 Engineer Regiment as part of a special joint celebration day in the town.

A parade and Armed Forces Day event will be held at 10.15am on June 30, and will see a parade of 120 members of the regiment through the town, along with the RAF Wyton band, veterans, the Royal British Legion and 60 cadets.

After the ceremony, St Ives Town Council is inviting residents to the Norris Museum, where they will have the opportunity to learn more about the regiment, which is based at RAF Wyton, and view the regimental display.

From 2.30pm you can join the 42 Engineers for an open day at RAF Wyton airfield, where there will be entertainment throughout the afternoon until 6.30pm.
