Following the purchase last September, staff have spent months transforming the Burrel Road plot into a thriving community hub. The first floor administration block is now in operation, housing offices, meeting rooms and a counselling centre, with work on the main church area almost finished. A spokesman from the church, said: The Bridge Church is already in conversation with local groups including local Scouts, Beavers and a day care centre. It is the churches intention that the building will become the heart of local charity and outreach activity. Showing no signs of slowing down, the church is also keen to raise funds for a special toilet allowing parents to change their children the only one between Cambridge and Huntingdon. A sensory centre is also in discussion, for children with severe disabilities. At present there is nowhere for parents of such children to meet, have somewhere where the children can be taken from their wheelchairs and laid down in safety and comfort. These childrens parents all have the same problems and it would be so good for them to be able to meet and interact with other parents in a place of safety and comfort, the spokesman added. The baptism will be at 10.30am on July 17, and will be followed with a Bring Your Own Picnic event.
