St Ives property specialist Move with Us has signed up to become the main sponsor of the event on Sunday, June 29, with Circle, the private health firm which runs Hinchingbrooke Hospital, becoming silver sponsors.

Staff at Move with Us will name the 100-mile challenge, which starts and finishes at Alconbury Weald, touring around the district on a route devised by experts at St Ives and St Neots cycling clubs and Wheels in Wheels Events.

Money from the sponsors will help cover the costs of the event and ensure as much money as possible is donated to the £800,000 extension campaign at the Woodlands Cancer Centre, Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Robin King, Move with Us director, said: “We support local causes with the money staff contribute from our charity dress down days.

“These are often causes close to people’s hearts so when an opportunity such as this arises, everyone naturally wants to support it. The extension at Woodlands will help people in our local community for years to come and we are delighted to sponsor the race.

“We have some keen cyclists here so we will take requests from staff who would like to enter this week and we will pull names out of a hat to determine who will take part.”

Steve Melton, Circle chief executive, said: “I am delighted Circle is able to help towards this incredibly worthy cause. Our team of doctors and nurses in the Woodlands Cancer Centre are constantly going the extra mile to give their patients some of the best treatments in the world.

“This project to extend the unit and improve services will make a huge difference to patients and I am so proud of all the team has achieved.”

Hunts Post Editor Andy Veale said: “We’re delighted that Move with Us and Circle have joined our efforts to help raise money for the Woodlands Cancer Centre and can’t thank them enough for their support.

“The amount of money needed for the expansion does look daunting, but every single pound helps inch us closer to the target. And with local companies willing to help support our fundraising efforts – and with more and more people prepared to get on their bikes to take part in the event – Wheels for Woodlands is turning into a real community effort.”
