The 5th St Ives Scouts welcomed a very special guest for their very own Master Chef challenge.

The Scouts invited the mayor of St Ives, Councillor Ian Jackson, to come and judge their efforts to prepare and serve a two-course meal.

Cllr Jackson chose lamb massala followed by apple crumble with a choice of custard or ice cream and coffee or tea with home-baked biscuits.

The challenge was designed to help the Scouts gain the skills needed to earn their creative and skills challenge badges. Each patrol choose the menu, shopped for the ingredients, prepared the table, cooked, waited at the table, cleared and then washed up.

Cllr Jackson said: “The mayoress and I receive many invitations to dinners on a grand scale, but this one was really special. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel like royalty.”
