People in St Neots are being asked for their input as part of a new initiative that could see the town achieve Smart Place status.

The St Neots Smart Places project is being launched on November 10 at the new Art & Soul Café, on New Street, and a session to encourage people to become involved is from 10am till 2pm.

The initiative forms part of the St Neots MasterPlan work and is being led by the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme in collaboration with local councils and community groups

Smart Places is keen to work with people to discover how data, technology and digital connectivity can be used to support the growth of the town. The aim is to explore how ‘smart’ solutions can help to address some key challenges the town faces, including: transport (parking, signals, congestion); environment (air quality, flooding); connectivity (superfast broadband, Wi-fi, mobile network coverage); information (real time travel updates and local information, latest what’s on).

The event is open to people who live, work and shop in the town who are invited to share their ideas and comments in a range of ways. They can drop in to the Smart session on Saturday; pin your views on the interactive Smart St Neots map (You will need to register, providing an email address and login); visit: www.connectingcambridgeshire.gov.uk/smart-places/ or pick up a leaflet at The Priory Centre or St Neots Library to find out more.
