SERCO said it would work on its model for NHS hospitals after missing out on the franchise to run Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.
Circle was announced as the preferred bidder on Thursday, beating Serco which had formed a partnership with Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Trust to compete for the franchise.
A spokesman told The Hunts Post: “We are disappointed not to have the preferred bidder to run Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
“Serco has developed a new approach to help hospitals and we believe that our approach has got the potential to meet the needs and tackle the challenges which are facing NHS hospitals.”
He added: “We need to remain focused on our approach and work to further develop our model.”
