A second man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Sam Mechelewski, 20, whose body was found at Hinchingbrooke Park.

The man, in his 20s from Brampton, was arrested this afternoon (Tuesday, February 6) on suspicion of murder.

His arrest follows that of another man, who is in his 20s and from Chatteris, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday. He remains in custody.

Police have also been searching a house in Chatteris.

Sam’s body was found in a remote wooded area in the park by a member of the public at about 1.40pm on February 1.

Police searched the wood in the area where Sam was found, including a team using rakes which went through the wood on Saturday.

Police have also been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area as well as checking nearby roads.

The area where Sam was discovered is at the opposite end of the park to the main entrance and closer to the A14. There is a small entrance to the park close to the search area which gives access to a housing area.

A post mortem examination was conducted on Sam, who was of no fixed address but living in Huntingdon, on Friday evening, but no further details have been made public about the cause of his death.
