Pupils and teachers at Middlefield School in St Neots said a fond farewell to long-serving volunteer Philip Glanville before the half-term break.
Mr Glanville, known to pupils as Mr G, had volunteered at the school for almost 10 years, popping in every afternoon to help out with odd jobs, read to pupils or play his guitar.
Before the school broke for half-term, a special assembly was held and Mr Glanville was thanked for all his hard work. An afternoon of fun and games in honour of Mr Glanville was then held, which saw the pupils enjoy games of cricket and dodgeball.
In the months ahead, the school will continue planting an orchard in honour of their long-serving volunteer.
A spokesman for the school said: “We would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to B&Q, Waresley Garden Centre, The Rockery Centre, Huntingdon Garden and Leisure, and Endersby Awards for their generous donations.”
