Pupils from Bushmead Primary School in Eaton Socon visited The Hillings care home to take part in a project called Pimp my Zimmer.

The team at The Hillings, in Grenville Way, invited youngsters to help them decorate residents’ zimmer frames and wheelchairs, personalising the frames and making them individually recognisable.

The pupils spent time decorating the frames using flags, bunting, fairy lights and stickers. The Hillings is part of the Healthcare Homes group, which launched the Pimp my Zimmer initiative across its 35 homes earlier this year.

Hillings manager, Deb Wiltshire, said: “We have enjoyed such a lovely time with the children. They all got very involved with the challenge, working with the residents to create some lovely designs, which have made each zimmer, wheelchair and even walking stick, very individual and instantly recognisable to each resident.

“We asked the school to come and take part as it’s very important for us to organise opportunities for our residents to engage with members of the community, both young and old. “We like to come up with new and interesting ways to make life at the home fun and enjoyable, and projects such as this provide real entertainment for everyone at The Hillings.”
