Passers-by in Sawtry were treated to a spectacle of colour, as pupils from Kimble’s Day Nursery took part in a ‘Giant Wiggle’.
The event was held on March 27 to celebrate the UK’s most read children’s book – The Very Hungry Caterpillar – and saw pupils parade the streets in conga lines, travelling from the nursery, in Fen Road, to the local park and back again.
The favourite bedtime story has sold more than 41 million copies since it was published in 1969.
Laura Hurst, manager at the nursery, said: “The Giant Wiggle is a wonderful way to help encourage their develop-ment by helping them read, communicate, understand their feelings, make friends, be curious about the world around them and develop their physical health.”
The event is now in its fourth year, and this time raised vital funds for Action for Children – a charity which helps disadvantaged children and young people.
