THE leader of Sawtry 2nd Brownies, who died aged 35, was commemorated last Saturday
A wild service tree was planted in honour of Brown Owl Claire Mennell in Beaumaris Road where she organised the planting of 40 trees for Sawtry in Bloom a year ago.
Miss Mennell suffered a heart attack on September 4 last year. It was later confirmed that the human resources officer for BT had a tumour on her heart.
A plaque, donated by Co-op Funeral Services in Sawtry, was placed by the tree by members of the pack and their parents.
