Sally Mead is to face the clippers at The Oak Tree Centre, Huntingdon on Wednesday, May 27 at 1pm.

She is having her head shaved to help pay for the youngster’s trip to Chicago, the only place he can receive an advanced MRI scan to check on the condition he has called CCM3, a rare brain disorder which can be fatal.

Zane’s mum, Kim, 40, said: “I think she’s amazing. I said to her ‘Are you sure?’ But she said she wanted to do something to spark people’s imaginations, so good for her.”

The Smiths are going to Chicago in August and will see a doctor who is leading research into the condition. They also hope to meet up with other families affected by CCM3.
