At a ceremony at the Dragoon pub and restaurant in Brampton on Saturday the presidency of the Huntingdon Cromwell Rotary was handed over to Maggie Bailey.
President-elect Chris Shannon and vice-president Nick Abell were there to help proceedings along, as was outgoing president Lynda Ellis.
Mrs Bailey, 68, said: “It’s the greatest honour one could ever have. I’m so proud to lead the local club and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.”
Mrs Bailey, who has been a member of the rotary club since 2006, plans to continue supporting the charities the Rotary is already involved with, but very much wants to concentrate on local charities and schools, and already has a fundraising event for the Woodlands Cancer Centre, in Hinchingbrooke Hospital, planned in October.
Mrs Bailey will remain president for a year, before handing over to president-elect Chris Shannon on July 1 next year.
Anyone interested in joining the local club should call them on 01480 4347800.
