Youngsters stepped back in time at the weekend and took part in a Roman-inspired fete.

Held at Godmanchester Primary school, the event was given an historical twist with the help of a Roman re-enactment group.

As well as all the stalls and entertainment such as bouncy castles and coconut shys, there were also demonstrations from the Beds and Hunts Naturalist Trust, an archaeological dig in the top field and Roman marches and battles to keep everyone entertained.

Deputy head teacher Ann Jackson said: "We had a lot of people come down, it was such a lovely day. The following day we had more re-enactments from the group who camped in the field over night."

Organised by the Parent Teacher's Association the event helped raise funds for the school.
