After months of preparatory work between Cambridge and Huntingdon, lane and full road closures will now be put in place to start main construction on the A14. Planned full closures are A1 northbound between Buckden and Alconbury, from March 6 to March 10. Dry Drayton Road, in Oakington, northbound from its junction with the A14 to the junction with Slate Hall Farm will be closed from 10pm on March 10 to 5am on March 13. Lane closures include lane two on the A1 northbound between Little Paxton and Brampton on March 6, from 8pm to 6am. According to Highways England, this will continue at these times until March 10. Also that day, lane one on the A14 eastbound between junction 27 and 29 will be shut, as well as the exit and entry slip roads going eastbound at junction 28. On March 7, the A14 westbound between junction 28 and 27 will have its lane one closed between 8pm and 6am. This is expected to continue on March 8 as well. The A428 at Eltisley will also have work starting next week, with street lighting and road markings put on the road. This will be done between March 6 and March 31, during which time temporary traffic lights will be put in place. The road will be closed overnight, however, and diversions will be available.
