A car hit a lamppost before colliding with a shop in St Ives today (Tuesday).

Police were called to Crown Street, at about 10.45am, following reports of a crash in which a car had collided with a branch of WH Smiths.

According to officers, the silver Vauxhall left the road and collided with a lamppost before hitting the front of the shop, causing damage to the building. The road was closed for more than two hours while recovery work took place.

Representatives from the East of England Ambulance Service attended the scene and two people received treatment for minor injuries.

Police said no arrests were made. Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact police on 101.
