Glorious weather on Saturday meant that thousands of people flocked to enjoy the 116th annual show, which organisers estimate attracted more than 8,000 visitors. The show, which was held at the show field, in Caxton Road, was established in 1891 and has run every year with the exception of the war years, 1939-1945. June Jukes, show secretary, said: The day went so well and we were lucky that we had such great weather. We had a record number of sheep entries and spectators which is just great, and each year it just seems to grow bigger and bigger. Everyone seemed to have a great day and everyone seemed happy. I think the highlight for me was the livestock because we had so many entries. We also had lots of youngsters take part in the event, which is brilliant as hopefully they will be the ones to take it on in the future.
