Adam Bates, 32, of Houghton Road in St Ives, was sentenced to 14 years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Wednesday, July 6, for two offences of rape. Bates targeted one of his victims during a night out in St Ives. He met the victim at a pub in November, 2015, and raped her after luring her to his car by offering her shelter from the rain while she smoked a cigarette. The second assault took place on Bates boat at Hartford Marina in March 2014. This victim came forward after hearing about Bates other offence. Detective Sergeant Richard Stott said: As a force we take all allegations of sexual abuse and assault very seriously no matter how long ago the offences occurred and I would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim to get in touch with us. These were very different and complex cases involving a number of different officers and I would like to thank all those involved in ensuring these offenders were brought to justice for their hard work and dedication.
