The Ramsey branch of the Women’s Institute celebrated 100 years since the club was founded by donating a homemade wall hanging to the town.

The hanging had been drawn, painted, appliquéd, cross stitched and embroidered by members, after member Pauline German designed it.

Janice Langley, from the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, unveiled the wall hanging and Ramsey mayor, Councillor Doug McIlwain, accepted the piece which is now permanently on show at Ramsey Community Centre.

Also on display was a copy of club papers from 1981, historic documents, photos and books and a selection of homemade craft items.

Cllr McIIwain said: “It feels like an honour to celebrate 100 years with the WI.”
