TWO men who set up a cannabis factory on a Ramsey industrial estate have been jailed.
Daniel Youthed, 25, and Gerald Shortall, 50, were arrested on April 8, following reports of suspicious activity around a unit at High Lode industrial estate.
Officers discovered both floors of the unit had been transformed to grow cannabis. There were a number of tents filled with the drug, and heating and irrigation systems had been set up.
Youthed, of Mayfield Road, Huntingdon, and Shortall, of St Pauls Road, Peterborough, both pleaded guilty to producing a Class B drug at Peterborough Crown Court.
On Monday (June 28) Youthed was jailed for three years and Shortall for two years.
Speaking after the case, Detective Constable Martin Brocklebank said: “The sentences that have been passed by the court reflect the enormity of the cannabis production in this case.
“I hope it serves as a deterrent to anyone thinking about getting involved with drugs.”
INFORMATION: Anyone with any information regarding cannabis factories should contact police on 0345 4564564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
