A member of the team from Beacon Wealth Management, in St Neots, will take part in a charity touch rugby tournament at the Saracens ground, in London, on July 26.
The tournament has been organised to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne UK and will see 20 teams of six mixed individuals meeting at Allianz Park, home of the Saracens, to challenge each other in touch rugby.
Rachel Ashdown and her team have to raise a minimum £2,000 but the event is aiming to raise more than £40,000.
Duchenne is a devastating muscle wasting disease and is the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. There is no treatment or cure. Children will be totally paralysed by their teens and usually do not live beyond their 20s. But thanks to recent breakthroughs, Duchenne UK believe they are making progress and its goal is to eradicate Duchenne in 10 years.
“I’ve been roped into be the token girl, in a charity touch rugby tournament at the Saracens ground, in aid of Duchenne UK,” said Rachel.
“The charity is working to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, it’s such a good cause, I could not say no. I just hope they raise enough money to help fund the research to eradicate the disease.”
