IT was a day of doggie delight for four-legged friends at Hinchingbrooke Country Park on Sunday.

The park was taken over by pooches of every variety for a day highlighting the facilities and opportunities open to man's best friend and their owners.

Among the activities on offer were a have-a-go session of agility and exercise, and a weight check and micro-chipping with staff from Wood Green Animal Park.

The animal welfare officer from Huntingdonshire District Council was on hand to offer advice and information. And there was a scheduled walk with a representative from St Neots based walking group Big Walkies.

Also, making a splash were a team of Leonbergers and their trainers, who regularly use the park for practising water rescue.

Ranger Brian Gardner took the chance to get his own dog, Gadget, weighed. "She is a perfect weight, but we live on a farm, so there is plenty of chance for to run around.

"The whole day was a good success. There were lots of people at the weighing-in stand."
