Thorndown Primary School pupils Alana Bird and Jessica Walter, both eight, won a competition to suggest a name for two of the wings at the recently-finished Field Lodge, in London Road. One wing will be named Buttercup after Alanas suggestion, with Jessica calling another Thorndown, after the school. The third wing, Willow, was named by home manager Matt Cox. About 25 people have been employed at the site, expected to increase to about 70 when Care UKs 72-bedroom residential, dementia and nursing home, which is in the parish of Hemingford Grey, is fully occupied. The facilities include a cinema, hair salon and coffee shop. An open day is being held on February 8.Prize-winners Jessica Walter and Alana Bird with clinical lead Chanelle Burns (left) and customer relations manager Christine Martin-Royle.
