A housing association is to make a new set of affordable homes in Warboys available to people wtih links to the village.

Suffolk-based housing association, Havebury Housing Partnership, is building 19 homes in Wiggs Close, with the priority on the properties given to village residents.

Chief executive Karen Mayhew said: "We're delighted that our first venture into Huntingdonshire should be in Warboys, since we know there is great demand for more affordable homes there.

"We are really looking forward to the completion of these homes in early 2017 and seeing local benefit."

All applicants who are in need to housing will have to show that they have a local connection with Warboys and will have to be on Huntingdonshire District Council's housing register for rented properties.

There will also be an option for shared ownership for those that are registered with the Help to Buy Agent.

Nigel McCurdy, corporate director for delivery at the district council, said: "I am really pleased to welcome Havebury into a collaborative relationship that sees us working positively together to achieve much needed growth across Huntingdonshire and which secures new homes that are particularly accessible to local people.

"It's taken a long time and a lot of hard work to get to this stage and thanks are due to all those who have been involved in making it happen."

As a part of the development there will be a mixture of one and two-bedroom houses, two-bedroom bungalows and larger family homes.

Havebury currently manages over 6,000 homes and flats in towns and villages in Suffolk and other areas.
