Pupils at St John’s Church of England Primary School in Huntingdon have been celebrating the 50th anniversary of its move to its present site at Oxmoor.

Youngsters - and staff - dressed in costumes from each of the decades since the move took place.

The Bishop of Ely, the Right Reverend Stephen Conway, was also on hand to mark the anniversary.

Kate Lund, head teacher, said: “The children made such an effort. It went really well and we will be burying a time capsule with prayers and poems written by the children and planting a tree.”

She said a cake had been made for the celebrations and there was also a tea party for the pupils.

St John’s used to be based in Huntingdon town centre but was transferred to its site in Sallowbush Road in 1967 to help serve the newly-built Oxmoor estate area.
