A former Huntingdon nightclub can be reopened after Huntingdonshire District Council approved an application for a premises licence, despite opposition from people living nearby.
Steve Woodham, owner of Steve’s Taxis, plans to open the S One Club in All Saints Passage.
Previously the home of Level 2, the club was closed in April 2012 after a brawl.
Councillors on the Licensing Sub-committee met yesterday (Thursday) but following the hearing deferred their decision until today.
A statement from HDC released this afternoon (Friday) said the licence had been granted “with amended hours and additional conditions”. There is also a requirement that the whole exterior is covered by CCTV.
The spokesman said the changes, the detail of which is yet to be released, had been agreed following consultation with police and HDC’s environmental health team.
The original application had sought approval for the club to remain open until 3am, Thursday to Saturday, serving alcohol until 2.30am and live music until 2am, and closing at midnight on Sunday to Wednesday.
Neighbours raised concerns about the potential for disturbed sleep, an increase in litter and anti-social behaviour, noise and falling property prices.
