The supervisor at Little Acorns pre-school has spoken of her delight after inspectors rated the nursery ‘good’ in all areas.
The Stukeley Meadows pre-school was praised for how ‘warm caring and friendly’ the staff are and how they had a positive relationship with the children.
Inspectors said that staff “give very good support to the children that speak English as an additional language. They learn words and familiar phrases from children’s home language, this helps build the children’s confidence and self-esteem, as well as supporting their acquisition of English”.
Rachel Parkinson, pre-school supervisor, said: “We are really pleased with this Ofsted report. I’m so glad that it shows that both the children and staff are happy at the nursery, which is really important to us.
“We try really hard to make sure that all of our staff really know our children well so that they can get their very best out of the nursery. We have worked and I feel that this report is a positive reflection of what we do.”
The pre-school was also praised for making the pre-school a fun environment to learn in.
It said: “Children enjoy the time they spend in the pre-school, particularly in the outdoor area. They take part in a wide range of activities based on their interest.”
Hayley Hopkins, parent and committee member, said: “The pre-school and its committee work tirelessly fundraising so that it can afford new play equipment and improve the indoor and outdoor learning areas and we have recently taken delivery of new electronic toys and books thanks to money raised in 2017/2018.
“Tesco Express in Stukeley Meadows is currently helping us raise money for new fencing that will keep the children safe during their playtime.”
In order to continue improving, inspectors said the pre-school needs to “question children in a manner that maximises their ability to think deeply for themselves or build their own ideas”.
The pre-school, which is situated in Wertheim Way, has 24 places available for children between the age of 3-4 years old. It was established in 1995, and is open Monday-Friday, from 9am-3pm.
