Around 40 people are employed at Little Barford, which is an efficient and flexible 720MW Combined Cycle Gas Power Station and can produce enough electricity to meet the needs of half a million homes. The team at Little Barford will be working throughout Christmas and the new year, playing a valuable role in helping to provide the nation with a secure supply of electricity, particularly when demand increases across the UK. And theyll be doing this whenever required, no matter what the weather, thanks to the robust plans in place to make sure employees can safely get to work. Little Barford site manager, Peter Robinson, said: Most people think of the emergency services teams working across the yuletide, who should rightly be honoured, however spare a thought for the power station, grid and network men and women. For them Christmas is business as usual. Electricity needs to be produced as its required, 365 days a year, and its thanks to the dedication and hard work of our staff that we can operate. To the duty shift team of Glen Forster, Marc and Derek, Christmas is just another working day at Little Barford however they know that the job is important and are very proud to generate electricity for homes across the region: We will enjoy our own Christmas dinner in the power station and we might even pull a cracker.
