Officers were called at about 2pm by a member of the public to reports of a body in the river close to Harrison Way. PC Chris Shaw said: Police received a report of a body seen in the river at a lock sluice, caught in fast-flowing flood water. Police attended, confirmed the report and were able to secure the body, that of a middle-aged male, to prevent it being swept further downstream. Ambulance, scenes-of-crime, Environment Agency and other services also attended, and the body was recovered from the river and taken to hospital. Initial investigations centred on searching reports of missing persons in the districts upstream of where the body was found. The scene was closed down just before midnight. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said that the death of the man, believed to be in his 40s, was not being treated as suspicious and a filed had been handed to the coroner.
