POLICE officers found drugs during a morning raid at a property in St Ives today (Wednesday).

The Hunts Post accompanied officers on the raid during a day of action in Operation Surf, Cambridgeshire police's high visibility, high impact crackdown on serious crime.

Officers used a hydraulic jack to break open the door at a property in Needingworth Road shortly after 9am this morning after receiving intelligence that there were drugs on the premises, and conducted a thorough search of the house.

Two men were given formal warnings for possession of cannabis after small amounts of the drug were found in two bedrooms.

Sergeant Judith Hiley said: "It's a positive result. We had intelligence that there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from the property and that there had been drug dealing going on nearby.

"We have found small amounts of cannabis in the bedrooms, and two men have been given a formal warning.

"It is possession, and it is illegal. We are taking action against people in the community using or dealing drugs.

"Word gets around that we are conducting these warrants, and it is reassuring for the community."
