A WOMAN who died at a house in St Ives last week has been named.
Pauline Smith, 54, was found dead at her house in Gainsborough Drive at 10.30am on Thursday (October 27).
Officers confirmed on Saturday that the case was being treated as murder, following a post mortem examination that concluded Ms Smith had “died from compression to the neck”.
A 53-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder is currently being treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for stomach injuries.
He will be questioned by detectives upon his release.
A team from the Cambridgeshire police’s major crime department is now dedicated to the investigation, and a forensic examination of the Gainsborough Drive property has taken place.
