British Transport Police are appealing for information after a man performed an indecent act in front of two teenage girls on board a train travelling between Peterborough and Huntingdon.

A 14-year-old girl was travelling home after school on the 5.21pm service on Friday, May 13, when a man sat next to her and performed an indecent act in front of her and another schoolgirl on the train.

PC Adam Burn said: “Both girls were very distressed by the man's actions and got up and left the train at Huntingdon. The victim went home and reported the incident to us.

“We would like to trace the other girl who witnessed the incident so we can speak to her and provide her with support following what must have been a very upsetting experience.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the train and saw the man or knows who he is. He has been described as black, in his late teens or early 20s. He had short black facial stubble and was wearing light grey jogging bottoms.

“We take all reports of this nature very seriously and I would like to commend the victim for coming forward and reporting this to us.

“Our Report It to Stop It campaign, which aims to combat unwanted sexual behaviour on the railway by encouraging members of the public to report it, is proving very successful in supporting victims and bringing perpetrators of these crimes to justice.”
