Cambridgeshire police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in St Ives on Friday (February 26).

The man, who is in his 40's, was walking home from the town centre through Warners Park at about 10.20pm when he was approached by a group of people.

They followed the man onto Fairfields Crescent before launching an unprovoked attack on him.

The offenders are described as teenagers wearing hooded tops with their faces covered.

PC Adam Whelan said: “This was a cowardly, unprovoked attack. We are looking to identify those responsible and would urge any witnesses to come forward.”
