A MAN used a duplicate receipt in an attempt to defraud a Huntingdon supermarket.

He bought water filters worth £135 from Sainsbury’s in Oxney Road, Peterborough, at about 5.40pm last Tuesday (June 21).

He claimed the machine had not printed a receipt and staff issued him with a duplicate. A short while later he returned to the store and had the items refunded.

At 6.20pm he entered Sainsbury’s in St Germain Walk, Huntingdon, and took five boxes from from a shelf.

He took them to the customer service desk where he attempted to get them refunded using the duplicate receipt. Staff became suspicious and called the police. The man then left the store.

Police have released CCTV pictures of a man they want to trace in connection with attempted fraud.
