Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a car left the A14 near St Ives in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing the driver.
Officers were called at about 5.10am after a member of the public discovered an over-turned red Vauxhall Tigra in a field off Cambridge Road in Hemingford Grey.
Police believe the car was travelling westbound on the A14 just passed St Ives when it left the road, striking a barrier which caused the vehicle to be launched into a nearby field.
Police, fire and ambulance services all attended the scene, and the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
PC Simon Burgin, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit, said: “Unfortunately it is not known exactly what time the collision occurred, however we do know that the car and the deceased were in the field for some time before it was reported to us.
“We believe the collision may have happened several hours prior to us being called at just after 5am this morning.”
