Year 11 students at Longsands Academy had plenty to celebrate as they marked the end of their GCSE exams with a prom.

Students attended the St Neots school on July 11 to spend time with their tutors and teachers and to celebrate the end of their schooling during a final assembly.

The assembly was an opportunity for them to reflect on their time at the school and for awards to be given, including the Spirit of Longsands Award - which went to Eddie Emmerson for his outstanding contribution to academy life.

Then, on July 13, pupils gathered at the Burgess Hall, in St Ives, for their prom, watched on by hundreds of family and friends.

Students voted on the evening for their prom king and queen, which was won by Andrew Bryson and Ebony Thurland.

Head teacher, Martin Paine, said: “I was extremely proud of our young people when receiving feedback from Burgess Hall staff who remarked that they were the best behaved group they had ever worked with.

“We wish them all a very bright future and are looking forward to many returning to the St Neots Sixth Form Centre in September.”
