A pilot escaped serious injury as two gliders crashed above Little Paxton on Saturday.
One pilot, aged about 50, parachuted out of his aircraft as the other landed safely after they collided at about 4pm. The glider crashed in a field west of the A1, next to the B645 to Hail Weston.
The male pilot suffered a cut leg on landing and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent its Hazardous Area Response Team, an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene. The Hertfordshire Air Ambulance was also scrambled, but was cancelled en route.
In May, two gliders from Cambridge Gliding Centre, crashed over Little Gransden, but the club wasn’t involved in the incident on Saturday.
