Officers will be clamping down on parking in St Ives next month.

Residents in The Quadrant and Cromwell Place have complained to police that cars are overstaying the restricted times and causing a nuisance.

Lee Hurley, of St Ives Problem Solving Team, said: "Following complaints received from members of the public and our continued efforts to improve access to parking provision within the town, please be advised that with effect from Wednesday, April 1, the limited restriction will be more regularly enforced by local officers.

"Any motorist overstaying these bays should expect to receive a fine of £30. We would much prefer that this was not required, and this is the purpose of this advanced warning to those living nearby and motorists regularly parking in this area."

He added: "I would appreciate your understanding that the issuing of fixed penalty notices occurs as a last resort and that parking enforcement throughout the rest of the area will continue as normal."

Parking is restricted on the two roads to one hour, on Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm.
