Nine councillors. County Councillor Roy Pegram and District Councillor Philip Godfrey attended the final meeting of the current Holywell-cum-Needingworth PC on May 1. Reported crime, extracted from 'e-cops', was damage to the street sign at Arnold Close. Councillor Pegram said that Cambridgeshire County Council supported yellow lines at the corners of Harris Crescent and Church Street. He was to become the new deputy leader and also hold the brief for environment and community. A new chief executive will be appointed.

The PC disagreed with plans to extend 106 High Street on the grounds of scale. Letters regarding parking on Silver Lane will be forwarded to CCC Highways dept. It was agreed to approach the Secretary of State to seek permission to allocate a dedicated parking area on Holywell Front for residents with no parking facility.

Neighbourhood Watch:

ELEVEN co-ordinators and the Good Neighbours representative attended the May 1 meeting of the Holywell-cum-Needingworth Neighbourhood Watch Association.

Chairman, Mike Norris, said that the post of community contact officer at the St Ives police station had been disbanded and in future the role would be fulfilled by one of seven neighbourhood policing teams. They would be providing warnings. Crime summaries were available on the Cambs Police website. Neighbourhood profiles are created by the police and Needingworth, as part of the Earith ward, was rated at 50 out of 56. This indicated a low level of crime and thus a low priority. Needingworth was included in the anti-speeding campaign and anti-social behaviour on the Overcote playing field was being targeted.
