A painting of the St Ives town mayor was presented to him at an event held to celebrate the end of his term of office and the start of an art shop’s new portrait service.

Councillor Brian Luter received the painting from local artist Charles Delafeld, at the Curiosity Gallery art shop in Market Hill in St Ives on Saturday morning. Jacqueline and Jane Mason, who run the gallery, were also at the event.

Jacqueline said: “The portrait will be in the window for a while so people can come along and have a look. There are other portraits for people to see as well, including my own and a self portrait by the artist, Mr Delafeld.”

And Jane added: “The mayor is delighted with the likeness and is looking forward to hanging the portrait in his own home.”
